I used to work in St Pete and commute from Englewood/Rotonda. Great fishing all the way from Englewood to St Pete, and great fishing for miles south of that too (I was 5 miles from Boca Grande Pass and some of the best back country fishing around). But if I were to choose I'd be hard pressed to pass up Islamorada. You are within reach of the lower Keys, the Everglades are a hop skip and jump away, and the fishing right in Islamorada is outstanding too plus the offshore fishing is excellent as well.
