I did a tour of the facility back in the mid 90's when they were still doing some construction work on the site. The fish trap was operational but the flows that day were low and no fish were being screened. But our tour guide described how when the flows are moving and trapping fish it pretty much sets up a buffet line. I presume he was talking about the shad, and the salmon smolts getting caught up in the current and eddies of the trap intake structure and easy pickins for the stripers, LMB, etc. I guess when the flows are in high gear, everything goes into the trap. They take whatever is trapped put them in a tanker and release them somewhere near Antioch.
