I'm back from my epic road trip with my 9 year old son (Jake) up to Yellowstone country. The centerpiece was a 5 day pack trip on horses into the upper Lamar River Valley.
This turned out to be a great trip for a young angler--lots of fish that aren't too difficult to catch. They are mainly on the small side, but Yellowstone Cutthroat are jewels and it was great fun to work with my son and watch him develop casting, line handling and water reading skills before my eyes over the five days.
We used Sunrise Pack Stations--the outfitter, Shane McClafin, does a fantastic job and runs trips throughout YNP all summer.
I'll just attach the photos and let them tell the story. Hoping to pass the torch slowly over the next 25-30 years or so--bset thing there is.
