A friend and I fished the Kanektok River with Ouzel Outfitters the last week of August. After 30 days of rain including nearly 3 inches in 3 days the previous week the weather changed. The first 3 days were mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Silvers were in the river from the mouth to Pegati Lake. The river was high but clear. Water was in the trees and some bars/camp sites were under water. Caught many silvers including a 31 inch specimen, many char and a few grayling. Rainbows were absent. My theory is the high water the previous week washed all the salmon carcasses downstream and the rainbows followed. Saw many birds including ducks, geese, swans, mergansers, and shorebirds. Saw 24 bears in four days.
