My impression is that at these price points it is unlikely that you will get a "bad" rod these days. Like grocery store wine, rod makers can cater to many different preferences but will not risk their business by placing a bad, or exotic, product on the shelf that few want. The downside, keeping to the wine analogy, few makers are willing to take risks with truly exotic "tastes" that may suit a very narrow group of buyers. Jim
